Changes to the pension and annuities laws

The coalition government, once they were in power, proposed some changes to the way annuities are purchased. These changes are now being put into place and may well affect you directly. The headline news is that it will no longer be compulsory to buy an annuity by the age of 75, or indeed at any age. While this certainly represents good news in terms of choice and flexibility, it may well still be advantageous to purchase an annuity rather than opt for drawdown, depending upon your pot and your situation.
The single most important thing to take away from this change is that it is imperative to seek independent financial advice. Here at Annuity Market, we can help. We can introduce you to independent financial advisors (IFAs), who can assess your individual situation and provide you with the best options available.
